With the ongoing delay in construction of BTO housing due to the pandemic, it is making things difficult for young couples to get a HDB flat. But one can always plan ahead and decide what kind of home they would like to live in. From bohemian to modern, you can decorate your future or current home with different aesthetics and impress your guests.
I have always imagined what my home would look like after moving out with my partner in the future. I would constantly have debates in my head, figuring out which home aesthetic would suit the concept of my home.

Do I want my home to have a modern vibe to it? Or more of a simple minimalist look? Sometimes it is always best to stick to the type of person I am, but that is the thing, I do not stick to one aesthetic in terms of my fashion or vibe I give off.
Let’s go through some home aesthetics and maybe I can finally figure out which aesthetic I might choose for my future home.
Bohemian
The Bohemian aesthetic or more known as Boho style is a mix of different colours, textures, and patterns. It breaks the design rules and appears more personalised. Some patterns include Aztec, Mandalas, and other repetitive patterns.

Some furniture to include when opting for a Bohemian style to the home would be hanging swings, patterned carpets, and other fringe textiles like cushion covers. This particular aesthetic is often seen as feminine and relaxed.
Bedrooms can also be decorated with tapestry and similar shaped furniture such as round tables and stools to add to the bohemian style.
Coastal
As its name suggest, the coastal home aesthetic or design comprises of colours and patterns to give off beach vibes. Colours such as blue and white are commonly used in coastal themed homes. Coastal themed homes require such a large amount of light.

Because it is supposed to make you feel like you are living on the coastal, windows, glass door and the shade white is used to enhance the brightness of the home. Dark colours and dim lights are nor recommended if you are planning to go for this home aesthetic.
Apart from enhancing the brightness, these elements also help provide the illusion of a larger spaces in the home. Some furniture that can help enhance the vibe even more are straw baskets and rustic wood home accessories.
Industrial
This is actually by far the most aesthetically pleasing design for a home, in my opinion. To me, this design is like a blend of several other aesthetics. It features both clean and rustic aesthetics. Some colours when opting for an industrial aesthetic to your home are different shades of brown and grey, with a slight touch of dark green.

Industrial designed homes usually feature raw and unfinished wood furniture such as coffee table. It is then accompanied by modern sofas to create contrast and boldness. Similar to the bohemian aesthetic, industrial homes also feature patterns rugs and carpets.
Scandinavian
For those who are opting for a more minimalist look and feel to your home, the Scandinavian aesthetic is the one for you. It comprises of gentle contours, accent colours and more. Overall, it serves as a simplistic vibe to your home.

Scandinavian furniture is rather simple, contemporary and functional. Many may associate this aesthetic to IKEA but there is more to this minimalist aesthetic. Colours used in Scandinavian themed homes are usually white and different shades of grey to accentuate to simplicity of the home.
Urban Modern
This aesthetic came about from modern designer lofts in big cities. Inspired from the cosmopolitan environment, this aesthetic is mix of opposing and complementary traits. The use of large furniture such as sofas and beds are prominent in urban modern homes.

It is a mix of both modern and industrial styles, with emphasis of bright spaces and warm fabrics and curtain. Colours used in urban modern homes are white and beige, however, shades of black and dark green can often be used too.
I guess I am a little clearer about some of the home aesthetics that I can choose from. However, I still do not know which to pick because they are all beautiful. I will definitely need to go through them again!
Share this with your friends and family and maybe you can start choosing which of these home aesthetics you would love to decorate your home in!
