Pizza has got to be one of my favourite comfort foods of all. The soft base, flavourful tomato sauce, spicy pepperoni and a handfuls of cheeses. It is such as perfect bite. My favourite flavour would definitely have to be the classic pepperoni.
However, instead of the original way it is made, many people are getting creative with pizza. There are so many types of pizza variation that can be found on the Internet, and I am living for it. Yes, I am a huge fan. Let’s take a look at some of these pizza variations and maybe you could recreate some in your own kitchen!
As the name suggest, Pizza Waffles are pizza-flavoured waffles. We would normally have waffles for breakfast, topped with maple syrup and fresh fruits. However, you can now have savoury variations to the classic breakfast.
The key thing when making waffles is to have a waffle iron. This helps create the signature patterns waffles have. To make this savoury treat, simply start by making your own pizza dough (or you could just use store-bought ones). Divide the dough into eight equal parts and place 4 of them onto the waffle iron.
Afterwards, spread a table spoonful of marinara sauce onto the dough, sprinkle a handful of Mozzarella cheese and add a few pepperoni slices. Finally cover the toppings with the remaining dough and press them down in the waffle iron. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown and serve with a extra side or marinara sauce.
Pizza pockets are such great sacks for the whole family. They are a little similar to pizza waffle, just different in terms of form. You do not require a waffle iron for this one. All you have to do is preheat your oven and start making your pockets.
All you need is the toppings of your choice, cheese, marinara sauce, flour and pizza dough. Roll your dough out with the help a little flour. Once it is flattened, cut pieces big enough to fit your toppings. Afterward, pile your toppings starting with marinara sauce, then cheese and top it off with other toppings of your choice.
Once done, cover it with the remaining dough and pop them into the oven until the dough turns golden-brown. Serve with a side of marinara and enjoy. This snack is super easy to make, you can get your family members to help too!
Pizza Mac and Cheese
Calling all Mac and Cheese lovers out there, this is for you! Pizza mac and cheese is like ultimate comfort food. It is a beautiful, cheesy pairing of creamy mac and cheese and pizza. What could possibly go wrong.
Start by making a standard mac and cheese recipe. You could use store-bought mac and cheese or use a family recipe. But instead of topping it with the usual cheese blend, top it off with marinara, Mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices.
Finish it off in the oven till the cheese melts and the pepperonis develop some browning around the edges. Take it out of the oven and let it cool for about 10 to 15 minutes before serving. This goes well with a side salad and dinner is served!
Pizza Fries is one of those sides that I would probably not share with everyone else. I mean crispy golden fries with cheese and pepperonis; I will have it all to me. You could have it all to yourself too. It is pretty simple to put together.
Fry some shoestring fries till they are golden-brown and crispy. Once done, place them into an over-proof dish and add dollops of marinara sauce, sprinkle o as much cheese as you like and top it off with pepperoni slices or other toppings of your choice.
Afterwards, place them in the oven for just a few minutes until the cheese had melted. Sprinkle on as little or as much Parmesan cheese as you like and enjoy!
These are just some variations there are out there for you to try! Share this with your friends and family and recreate some of these at home. Do not forget to get your family members involved too!
